Strategic planning is fun!  The hard part is delivering results, and this is left to recipients of the plan.  Since most people were left during the creation of a strategy, it is difficult to get &quot;buy-in&quot;.   

As you pointed out the market is a moving target, and we need agility to succeed.   

We tend to overestimate our own human resources ability to have time to work on it, and the ability to create all of the necessary work breakdown structures to achieve it.
